Cream Cheese-Filled Banana Bread is a moist, sweet loaf that combines ripe bananas with a rich streak of cream cheese. It’s a simple, homemade delight perfect for those who love a creamy twist to their classic banana bread.

Ingredients:

For the Banana Bread:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, preferably at room temperature
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (equivalent to 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 1 large egg
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

How to Make Cream Cheese Banana Bread:

Start by turning your oven to 350°F (175°C). While it’s getting hot, use some butter or spray to make a 9×5-inch bread pan non-stick. You can also put baking paper in the pan to make sure the bread won’t stick and to take it out easily later.

1. Creaming the Sugar and Butter:

In a large bowl, put together 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of soft butter. Mix them with a mixer until they are light and fluffy, for about 3 to 4 minutes. This makes the mix full of air, which helps the bread to rise well.

2. Adding Eggs and Bananas:

Break the eggs into the bowl, one by one, and stir well each time you add one. Next, put in the mashed bananas and pour in the buttermilk and vanilla. Mix everything together just until it’s mixed. Remember not to stir too much so the bread stays soft.

3. Combining Dry Ingredients:

In a different bowl, use a sifter or a fine strainer to mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. This gets rid of any big bits and adds air to the flour, which helps make the bread light and fluffy.

4. Merging Mixtures:

Slowly put the flour mix into the wet banana mix. Stir it softly with a spatula or a wooden spoon. Mix just until you can’t see the flour anymore. Don’t mix too much or the bread will be heavy.

5. Making the Filling:

In a different bowl, mix the cream cheese, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 3 tablespoons of flour until it’s all smooth and has no lumps. This mix should be soft and smooth so it will spread nicely in the bread.

6. Layering the Batter and Filling:

Put half of the banana bread mix into the pan you got ready. Make it flat and even. Then put the cream cheese mix on top of that. After, put the rest of the banana bread mix on top of the cream cheese. Make the top smooth with a spatula.

7. Baking the Bread:

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out mostly clean with just a few moist crumbs. If you notice the top of the bread browning too quickly, loosely cover it with a piece of aluminum foil.

8. Your Cream Cheese Banana Bread is Almost Ready:

Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes after baking. Then, use the paper to lift it out and put it on a rack to cool down completely. Once it’s cool, cut it into slices. It tastes great with coffee or tea. For something special, toast a slice and spread a little butter on top.
