Ingredients:
Cake:
- 450g Flour
- 360g Sugar
- 90g Oil
- 5 Eggs
- 4 tablespoons Cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder (level)
- 2 dl Water
- Margarine (for greasing)
- Flour (for dusting)
Filling and Topping:
- 2 cans of condensed milk
- 4 tablespoons Cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon Honey
- 1 tablespoon Margarine
- Chocolate sprinkles (as needed)
How to Make The Best Chocolate Cake Ever:
1. Preparing the Oven and Baking Pan:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F).
- Grease a round baking pan with margarine and lightly dust it with flour to prevent the cake from sticking.
2. Preparing the Cocoa Mixture:
- Heat 2 dl of water in a saucepan or microwave.
- Once warm, add 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
- Stir until the cocoa is completely dissolved and set aside to cool slightly.
3. Making the Cake Batter:
- Separate the egg yolks and whites.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks with 360g of sugar and 90g of oil until the mixture is creamy and light.
- Gradually add the cocoa-water mixture to the egg yolk mixture, continuously beating to incorporate well.
- Sift in 450g of flour and 1 tablespoon of baking powder. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter, ensuring not to deflate the airiness.
4. Baking the Cake:
- Pour the prepared batter into the greased and floured baking pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for a few minutes.
- Unmold the cake onto a wire rack and let it cool completely.
5. Preparing the Filling and Topping:
- In a saucepan, combine 2 cans of condensed milk, 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of margarine.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens and begins to pull away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
6. Assembling the Cake:
- Once the cake is completely cooled, carefully slice it horizontally into two equal halves.
- Optional: Prepare a syrup by boiling 3 dl of water, 150g of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of chocolate powder for 2 minutes. Let it cool and drizzle over the two halves of the cake to moisten.
- Spread half of the prepared chocolate cream over the bottom half of the cake.
- Place the top half of the cake back on the cream layer.
- Spread the remaining chocolate cream over the entire cake, smoothing the top and sides.
- Decorate the cake by generously sprinkling chocolate sprinkles over the top.
- Allow the cake to set for a few minutes before slicing.
