Description
Enjoy this simple yet flavorful homemade Tzatziki Sauce, perfect as a refreshing dip, spread, or accompaniment to a variety of dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups Greek yogurt (I prefer Stonyfield’s Organic 100% Grass-fed Plain Greek Yogurt)
- 1 cucumber, grated and drained
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons EXTRA virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (I prefer Fresh Brand Organic Dill)
- 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by grating the cucumber. I use this FANTASTIC grater, which makes it quick and easy.
- Wrap the grated cucumber in a towel and squeeze out the excess water.
- In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and cucumber.
- Add minced garlic, olive oil, chopped dill, mint, and lemon juice.
- Season with salt and pepper and mix well.
- Chill in the fridge for about an hour to let the flavors come together.
Notes
- Squeeze the cucumber well after grating to keep the sauce thick.
- Fresh dill and mint taste best. Dry herbs can work, but it’s not the same.
- Tzatziki is great with grilled meat, as a veggie dip, or on sandwiches.
- Keep it in a tight container in the fridge, it’s good for about a week.
