I’m excited to share a super easy recipe for making gummies at home. It’s a fun little project that I love doing with my kids. We use simple ingredients like fruit juice and gelatin, and the best part is choosing our favorite flavors, shapes and colors.

My kids absolutely adore making worm-shaped gummies – they find it so funny and enjoyable.

Ready to create some sweet memories?

If you’re a mom looking to spark your kids’ creativity, I highly recommend trying this recipe with them. It’s uncomplicated and so rewarding. Watching my kids get inventive with shapes and flavors, and then seeing their joy when they taste their own creations, is a moment I treasure.

How to Make REALLY Good Gummies at Home:

Making these vegan gummies is a blast, and it all starts with choosing the right FRUIT JUICE. In my house, we’re big fans of APPLE and GRAPE juice – my kids just love these flavors. Just steer clear of pineapple and such because they can be TRICKY with gelling.

Next up, I mix the juice with some plain water. Now, while you can totally use gelatin powder in this recipe, I personally lean towards AGAR AGAR POWDER. It’s a plant-based gem that’s not only HEALTHY but also super EFFECTIVE.

What really impresses me is how potent it is – just a tablespoon of AGAR AGAR can do the job of about 6-8 tablespoons of gelatin. That’s why I prefer it; it just works best for achieving that perfect gummy texture. You can get it from Amazon.

For sweetening, I usually swing between sugar and honey, depending on what I have on hand. To bring in those fun colors, I use AMAZON FRESH, ASSORTED FOOD COLORING. It’s a simple way to make these gummies visually exciting. My kids love the red color. You can get it HERE!

And for an optional zesty touch, a bit of MILLIARD CITRIC ACID does the trick. It gives the gummies that cool, tangy edge that my kids go crazy for.

Quick Reminder!

The exact amounts you need are listed in the recipe card below, so don’t worry about jotting them down now.

My Kids’ Favorite Gummy Molds:

I’ve got to tell you about the most FUN part of making these gummies – using GUMMY WORM MOLDS! My KIDS absolutely adore these. The best thing about these molds is how they encourage my kids to get CREATIVE. They love choosing the colors and watching the liquid turn into these cool, wriggly worms.

We found our favorite ones on Amazon, and they’ve been a game changer for our gummy-making sessions. If you’re looking to add an extra layer of fun to this activity, I highly recommend checking out these GUMMY WORM MOLDS on Amazon. Right now, there’s a LIMITED TIME DEAL on these molds!

  • Yield: About 40 gummies 1x
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

Make yummy homemade gummies with this easy recipe! Fun to create with kids, these treats use simple ingredients like fruit juice and AGAR AGAR powder. They’re a healthy, customizable snack that’s sure to delight the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups of FRUIT JUICE (apple or grape recommended)
  • ½ cup of water
  • ¼ cup of gelatin powder (or for a vegan option, use 1 tablespoon of AGAR AGAR POWDER, which I recommend)
  • ½ cup of granulated sugar or honey
  • Food coloring (I use AMAZON FRESH, ASSORTED FOOD COLORING)
  • 1 tsp of citric acid (optional, I use MILLIARD CITRIC ACID)
  • Extra sugar for coating (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Molds by lightly greasing them. You can also use GUMMY WORM MOLDS for added fun.
  2. Combine Juice and Water in a saucepan.
  3. Add Gelling Agent by sprinkling gelatin or AGAR AGAR POWDER over the liquid and let it sit.
  4. Heat Gently over medium-low heat, stirring until the powder dissolves.
  5. Mix in Sweeteners and Colors by adding sugar or honey, then food coloring if you like.
  6. Fill the Molds or any container you’re using with the mixture.
  7. Chill in the Fridge for at least 2 hours to let the gummies set.
  8. Unmold Your Gummies once they’re firm. If you used a pan, you can cut them into shapes.
  9. Optional Sugar Coating can be added by rolling the gummies in extra sugar or sugar-citric acid mix.

Notes

  • Juice Choice: Remember, some juices like pineapple don’t work well for gelling. Stick to apple or grape for the best results.
  • Agar Agar Tip: If you’re using AGAR AGAR POWDER, less is more. A little goes a long way compared to regular gelatin.
  • Mold Fun: Using GUMMY WORM MOLDS makes this super fun. Be gentle when taking the gummies out.
