This Massive Smoked Burger is a gastronomic delight for those who love bold flavors and hearty meals. Its combination of smoky, charred meat with the rich, melted cheese and a soft, fresh bun makes for a satisfying experience that’s worth trying.

Ingredients:

  • For the Burger:
    • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for optimal juiciness)
    • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 2 slices of thick-cut cheese (like cheddar or Swiss)
  • For the Bun:
    • 2 large burger buns, preferably brioche or a similar soft yet sturdy variety
  • For Serving:
    • Your choice of condiments (mayonnaise, mustard, barbecue sauce, etc.)
    • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, onions

Before you start cooking, make sure you have all the equipment ready. You will need a smoker or a grill to cook the meat. A meat thermometer is important to check if the burger is cooked how you like it. Use a spatula to flip the burgers. Get your burger buns ready to toast. Now, let’s get cooking!

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Patties:
    • In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix until just combined.
    • Form the mixture into two massive patties, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Smoke the Burgers:
    • Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees F (107 degrees C).
    • Place the patties on the smoker rack, ensuring they are not touching.
    • Smoke the patties until the internal temperature reaches 135 degrees F (57 degrees C) for medium-rare, or 150 degrees F (65 degrees C) for medium.
  3. Add the Cheese:
    • A few minutes before the burgers are done, add a slice of cheese on top of each patty and allow it to melt.
  4. Toast the Buns:
    • Cut the buns in half and place them cut-side down on the smoker or a grill pan over medium heat.
    • Toast until they are lightly browned and crispy.
  5. Assemble the Burger:
    • Spread your chosen condiments on the bottom half of each bun.
    • Place the smoked patty with melted cheese on the bun.
    • Add any additional toppings as desired.
    • Cap with the top half of the bun.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve immediately while hot and juicy.
